“Norwegians are more self-centred than other people.” … Wow!

It’s not my answer. Its said in the book “Norway- society and culture” by Eva Maagero and Birte Simonsen. I was presented this book quite long ago by the international student councelling center after more than one year working for the International student union but i havent touched it until now :|. I wish I had read it when i was in Norway so that i would notice and understand more about Norway and maybe collect more interesting things to say now.

I don’t affirm that the above conclusion is true or false and for sure as a student who lived there for 2 years, had full of eagerness to discover the local people and culture, i will say my opinion later. However, it’s surprising to see Norwegians acknowledge themselves as the “more self-centred people! Wow…

To be honest, not many international students i know like Norwegians although they love Norway. One of my good Norwegian friends K. who was quite popular in the international student community admited that he was different from other Norwegians. Another  Norwegian friend J. told me that he didn’t like Norwegians :))! There are some reasons explained for the unfavourite. I will detail in an upcoming post.

But in my case I have known quite a lot of amazing Norwegians. Some of those enthusiastically showed me the characteristics of Norwegian culture through big events such as Christmas, New year and even through daily routines. I am keen on all aspects of international culture so i’d love to come back to this subject in some next posts.

Hàng ngày bạn hay nhìn thấy người nước ngoài trên đường phố. Nhiều người không phải là khách du lịch mà đang sống, tìm việc, làm việc, bỏ việc,… và tất nhiên cả yêu tại Việt Nam. Chúng tôi đã chọn và theo sát họ trong một thời gian dài để chuyển đến các bạn độc giả bài này.

Denis Bissonnette, quốc tịch Canada, hiện đang là giảng viên khoa du lịch - ĐH mở Hà Nội, Giám đốc Đào tạo tại KS Metropol Sofitel và Metropol Plaza.

Cách đây hơn 5 năm, sau khi kết thúc hợp đồng giảng dạy tại Thái Lan, Denis Bissonnette sang Việt Nam tiếp tục làm công việc mà mình yêu thích. Nhưng mỗi tuần anh chỉ có hai buổi dạy (hợp đồng lao động ký với Hiệp hội các trường ĐH Canada), thời gian còn lại Denis cũng bạn bè lang thang tại các điểm giải trí dành cho người nước ngoài ở Hà Nội.
